Your information and your choices
This notice explains how BeAccessible AI Professional Academy uses your information when you learn, ask for support or join an employer cohort.
Updated
BeAccessible provides the Academy from Cape Town, South Africa. For questions about your information or to make a privacy request, email hello@beaccessible.co.za.
You can read public learning content without an account. Saving learning records requires sign-in. Access preferences are voluntary, and you do not need to disclose a diagnosis to request support.
Include only what is needed for the activity or request. Use invented or approved practice material. Do not upload diagnoses, medical documents, government identifiers or confidential information about colleagues, clients or other people.
You can save choices for high contrast, reduced motion, larger text, read aloud and your preferred evidence format. Sharing your saved access profile with a facilitator is off by default. If you turn it on, authorised facilitators supporting your cohort can read it.
In Access settings, you can change your preferences, withdraw facilitator sharing or delete your saved access profile. Withdrawal stops future access through that sharing permission; it cannot undo information already seen. A record of consent changes remains after profile deletion.
Profile sharing and asking for support are separate choices. Staff handling a support request can read what you put in that request even when profile sharing is off. Neither access profiles nor support details appear in employer training reports.
Authorised human reviewers can access work submitted for assessment and the decisions or appeals they handle. Support staff can access relevant requests. Platform administrators have access to operational records such as support requests, certificates and audit records. Authorised technical administrators and service providers may also access stored information when operating or maintaining the service.
If you join an employer cohort, authorised coordinators for that organisation can see cohort summaries and named training records. These include your display name, employee reference, enrolment status, recorded learning hours, module-completion counts, attendance or equivalent-activity totals, and certificate number and issue date. Coordinators can download training reports.
Employer reports exclude your access preferences, disability or support information, private logbook reflections, evidence files, assessment feedback and appeal details. Turning off facilitator profile sharing does not turn off cohort training reporting. Contact us if you have a concern about reporting before joining a cohort.
The Academy records learning and human decisions. It does not use an AI tutor or make automated decisions about competence, accommodations, appeals or employment. Automated completion checks support human certificate review.
Anyone with a certificate verification link can view its code, issue date and current status without signing in. Your name is hidden by default. You can choose to show it or withdraw that choice on your Certificate page. Revoked certificates do not show the learner name.
Name sharing on the public verification page is separate from your name on the certificate, skills record and employer training report. A downloaded copy stays with whoever received it; changing online sharing cannot recall those copies.
Sign-in uses session cookies. The accessibility controls remember high contrast, larger text and reduced motion in this browser. You can reset those controls or clear the site data in your browser; clearing cookies may sign you out. Deleting your saved access profile through Access settings also resets these preferences in the browser you are using; it does not clear preferences on other devices.
The optional Free AI Starter reflection is not sent to the Academy or saved by it. Read aloud uses your browser's speech service when you press Play. Its handling of text depends on your browser and voice provider. This Academy does not include advertising trackers or an analytics service.
Supabase provides account sign-in, database and uploaded-file services. Its data processing information describes how it handles customer data. Ask us about the providers, storage locations and any international processing that apply to your enrolment; this notice does not promise storage only in South Africa.
If you follow a link to an AI tool, meeting service or other external site, that service has its own privacy terms. Check them before sharing information. The Academy does not automatically send your learning evidence to an AI model.
Saving work creates an account record. Deleting an access profile or removing a portfolio selection does not delete your whole account, the underlying submitted evidence or certificate history. Consent, assessment and certificate records may still exist after you change a setting. Sign-out does not delete saved work.
For access to your information, a copy, correction, an objection to its use or a deletion request, contact hello@beaccessible.co.za. You can also ask how long a particular record is held. Describe the request without attaching sensitive identity documents. Account-wide deletion and retention questions need a human response; changing a preference is not an account-deletion request.
POPIA provides rights to request access, correction or deletion and to object in the circumstances set out in the law. See the official Protection of Personal Information Act (PDF). You can raise a concern with South Africa's Information Regulator if you believe your information has been handled unlawfully.
You can read this notice and the Terms of use without signing in. For an accessible way to discuss a request, see our accessibility information or email us.
